Belcan Workforce Solutions are recruiting for a Buildings Design Manager for our client, a trusted provider of bespoke engineering services based in Plymouth, this contract will go through until 2026 and offers hybrid working one week a month required on site in Plymouth.
As a Buildings Design Manager, your role is crucial in ensuring the successful delivery of building infrastructure projects. Let's dive into the specifics of your responsibilities:
Design Oversight and Management:
- You'll work with a multi-disciplinary technical team to oversee the design process.
- Your expertise will be essential in reviewing design packages provided by Consultants.
- Ensuring that the integrated facility meets technical, quality, and operational requirements is a key aspect of your role.
Client-side Responsibilities:
- As the client technical lead, you'll manage a small team of multidisciplinary technical engineers.
- Your team will review Consultants' deliverables to ensure they align with client expectations.
- Collaboration with the main works contractor is also part of your responsibilities.
Project Delivery and Quality Assurance:
- You'll manage the delivery of work packages, ensuring they meet scope, quality, and schedule requirements.
- Ensuring compliance with safety functional requirements and relevant HSE standards is critical.
- You'll contribute to effective project planning and implementation.
Quality Management and Documentation:
- Operating within the Company's Business Management System, you'll ensure appropriate design assurance.
- Proper documentation, record-keeping, and quality controls are part of your role.
Risk Management:
- You'll communicate hazards and risks associated with the work to staff and contractors.
- Effective risk assessment and management are essential.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
- Experience in designing and constructing major industrial buildings with multifunctionality (e.g., workshops, storage, offices).
- Familiarity with high-hazard facilities (such as nuclear sector or hospital X-ray facilities) would be beneficial.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or Engineering is required.
- Preferred Chartered Architect or Engineer, registered with appropriate body.
The nature of this opportunity means that you will be required to be Security Cleared prior to appointment so you must meet all the eligibility criteria to obtain UK Security Clearance.
