Human Factors Specialist (Health, Safety & Environmental Protection)
12 Month Contract inside IR35
Location: Wiltshire (Hybrid)
About the Role: We are seeking a dedicated Human Factors Specialist to join our Corporate Health, Safety, and Environmental Protection Team. In this role, you will help implement a Human Factors Strategy aligned with HSE's Human Factors Delivery Guide. Your primary focus will be managing health, safety, and environmental protection risks, especially in high hazard activities involving biological agents, toxic chemicals, explosives, and critical facility maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support health and safety inspections and audits.
- Conduct Human Factors risk assessments for activities with potential major accident risks.
- Develop Human Factors Integration Plans for new projects.
- Assess Safety Critical Equipment.
- Design and deliver Human Factors training courses and materials.
- Develop Human Factors policies, procedures, and guidance.
- Support incident investigations and near-miss analyses.
- Engage in research and policy initiatives related to Human Factors.
- Maintain professional links with Human Factors experts and relevant bodies (e.g., CIEHF).
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience in managing human performance.
- Expertise in Human Factors risk assessment for safety-critical tasks.
- Knowledge of Human Factors integration in design (JSP 912).
- Proficiency in safety-critical communications and procedures.
- Competence management skills.
- Practical experience in high hazard environments.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience with Control of Major Accident Hazard regulations.
- Background in high hazard industrial or research industries.
- Understanding of Process or System Safety (e.g., JSP 912).
- Awareness of Human Factors' impact on environmental protection.
Educational Requirements:
- Degree in Human Factors/Ergonomics accredited by the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors.
- Chartered Member of the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors.
