Belcan Workforce Solutions are seeking an Operational QA on a 12-month contract to join our client's Defence & Space team in Stevenage.

They are offering up to £31.00 per hour Umbrella. Inside IR35. The role is a site based role.

Description:

  • Role: Operational QA in the Quality Assurance department.
  • Location: Stevenage.
  • Department Goal: Ensure customer requirements are met during the manufacturing, assembly, integration, and test phases of the Spacecraft build cycle.

Tasks & Accountabilities:

  • Quality Management: Oversee all aspects of quality within the Spacecraft Production work area.
  • Inspection & Operations: Perform critical inspections and witness operations.
  • Non-Conformance Prevention: Lead efforts to prevent non-conformances and enforce a quality mindset.
  • Non-Conformance Management: Efficiently manage non-conformance and reduce the cost of non-quality.
  • Build Reconciliations: Collate build reconciliations and manage open points.
  • Quality Surveillance: Ensure product quality meets requirements through surveillance.
  • Action Management: Track and manage open actions from critical inspections.
  • Support Meetings: Attend and support root cause analysis and internal review board meetings.
  • Procedure Review: Review and provide feedback on quality procedures, processes, and documents.
  • Process Audits: Request or conduct process audits as necessary.
  • Work Instruction Review: Review work instructions for technical integrity and product quality requirements.
  • Core Values: Apply companies Core Values to create a successful environment.

Required Skills:

Essential:

  • Recognized engineering apprenticeship or equivalent academic qualification.
  • At least 3 years of experience in Production, Quality, or Engineering within Aerospace or Military industry.
  • Good understanding of Quality Assurance and product assurance activities.
  • Strong communication skills for motivating others and explaining findings.
  • Teamwork and leadership attributes with excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Solid hardware inspection background.
  • Willingness to work shifts, on-call, or off-site as required.
  • Knowledge of Space Quality standards is advantageous.

Desirable:

  • Lean, continuous improvement qualifications.
  • ESA qualification.
  • Experience with 3D drawings (Catia, 3DX).
  • Knowledge of composites/carbon materials.

Given the role's nature, the selected candidate will undergo BPSS clearance before commencing.
